Do you love the countryside and seek an inspiring setting

to explore your personal vision?

If so, join Jila for a fascinating week in Dordogne. Experience this visually stunning region as you discover your unique way of “seeing,” the world around you.

Jila will take you through creative exercises which are key steps towards enriching your photographic vision. You’ll find yourself focused less on objects and things, and more on the magic of moments and the essence of historic places.

Each day weaves together short creative exercises and/or technical lessons, followed by leisurely field trips, and ends with a group review and discussion of the images. At the end of the workshop students will edit their work with the help of the instructor for a self-published book. This workshop is for the amateur photographer and those with some photographic experience. You will need to bring along a digital camera.

Jila Nikpay is a photographer/ filmmaker who explores the themes of memory and place in her work. As an artist, she has taught and lectured for more than a decade in numerous colleges, schools, and cultural institutions. Nikpay’s work has been exhibited at the Walker Art Center, Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Minnesota Historical Society and many others institutions. She is the recipient of many awards for photography and film from the Jerome and McKnight Foundations as well as the Minnesota State Arts Board.
